Rick Perry got a free pass into the Texas Governor's office with the election/appointment of George W. Bush to the White House in 2000. Prior to that, the political progress of the one time Texas Agricultural Commissioner was financed heavily by a group call WallBuilders, led David Barton, a virulently anti LGBT "historian" and favorite of de-throned Fox News Channel Whack-job-in-Chief Glenn Beck.
No, they are not lobbying group pushing the interests of drywallers, bricklayers and/or building framers.
That would be nice.
WallBuilders is a rightwing Christian Conservative group that spends it's time revising history. They were behind the recent revision of Texas school history books. (John Calvin more important than Thomas Jefferson in US history? Really?)
Aaaah.....but, back to Rick Perry's flip on LGBT rights.....what's that, little neo-con/federalist campers? You didn't know that at one time Perry supported the idea states deciding on issues of LGBT marriage? Here's a hanky, dry your eyes.
Since then, however, in order to appease his base, Perry has signed the National Organization for Marriage pledge. The one that requires signatories to push a marriage amendment to the constitution.
You know, big government stuff.
From Washington.
Which Perry, according to the title of his book FedUp!, America needs to be saved from.
So, to wrap up. Rick Perry (a rabid states rights federalist who opined that Texas should secede), to appease his biggest and oldest political financier, (a group of virulently anti-LGBT history revisionists that worked hard to make sure, along with Perry's budget ballet, that Texas produces some of the most ignorant high school grads in US history), signed a pledge to use the power of Washington (which is a city he hates) and the federal government (an institution he wants to make "as inconsequential as possible" in people's lives) to pass a constitutional amendment that will be very consequential in people's lives.
There's somethin' happenin' here, and I'm pretty sure I'm not to happy about it.

No Bachmann bshing, or TP tp'ing.....there's another baby coming. Number 2, a little ??????? for Charlie (who says he wants 3 or 4, but that'll change when he realizes he has to share) and yes I am excited and happy, but not as nervous as the first time.
But still real happy.
But still real happy.

The price of standing by your principles.....
If the Tea Party keeps on "standing by their principles", I think we may see the emergence of a new second rate former super power. You cannot keep cutting without drawing blood.

As much as Speaker Boehner & Co. want to believe it's all about spending, it's not.
